♥ ♥ In 1948, at the age of 14, Jo was killed in a tragic car accident. Because she had deeply loved camp, her parents decided to establish the Heart O’ the Hills Camp for Girls in her memory in 1953. Campers still aspire to attain the Eight Traits attributed to Jo Jones: Faith, Honesty, Courage, Unselfishness, Truthfulness, Purity, Goodness, and Trust. The one camper each term who most exhibits these Eight Traits is selected to receive the Jo Jones Memorial Sportsmanship Award in living memory of the little girl whose dream came true in The Heart O’ the Hills Camp for Girls. |
