Open House
Calling all prospects! New campers, too!
We are hosting an “open camp” on March 23 and invite
everyone to come and have a look at The Heart on that Saturday.
We will open the gates at 10 a.m. and will receive
until 4 p.m. We plan to show people around the grounds and through the tepees,
the dining room, the famous tunnel and the waterfront. We will have a lifeguard
so that canoe rides can be allowed, and folks can hike on their own.
Our brother camp, Stewart for Boys, will have an open
camp at the same time. The two camps are just seven miles apart. Stewart
accepts boys ages 6-16, same ages we accept at The Heart.
Anyone not familiar with the area will want to contact
us for directions on how to get here; we have yet to find a GPS device or
Internet map service that knows where we are!
Anyone who cannot work out March 23 as a time to come
is welcome to call and set up an alternate date with us.

2013 Dates
Generally when we select dates, we try to abide by certain rules
of thumb: we try to have opening and closing on weekends for the convenience of
our camper families; we try to avoid July 4 because of peak motel demands and
high traffic; and we try to provide our counselors a good breather between terms
as well as time to clean a bit and ship out lost and found! We also feel we must
end the July Term in early August so that the older campers involved with band,
drill team, volleyball and so forth can meet their pre-school obligations. So
long story short, summer is getting squeezed more and more!
What we have
done is make the starting date as late as we possibly can, and the break between
terms as short as we can stand it, and still end reasonably early in
August.
