We want Heart LITes who are willing to learn and have a strong desire to one day become great counselors! Heart LITes do not always get assigned the most glamorous jobs around camp, but we can guarantee a really great time as long as you have a positive attitude and love for service; here are just a few things Heart LITes do:
-Assist in teaching activities
-Sort and distribute mail to campers
-Conduct daily tepee inspection
-Serve snacks
-Manage nightly “Milk Line”
-Set and clear tables for all meals
-Supervise tepees during siesta
-Help with office duties
-Assist in the set-up for evening programming
-Learn workplace skills (e.g. paperwork, chain of command)
-Gain intangible experience working with others
-Serve as a role model for campers
-Meet people from all over the world
-Form lifelong friendships
Heart LITes live in a dorm-style room with other Heart LITes, supervised by a head counselor. Being a LITe is a volunteer position. The first term (four weeks) you work for no pay, and in subsequent four-week terms, you're paid $100.00. The true monetary benefit is, however, that when you become a counselor, you will be paid on the veteran pay scale rather than the rookie scale, which is a difference of about 10%!
